Created using both Illustrator and Photoshop, bought resources and my own illustrations and photography.

I can never decide if I like the woods better or the sea, so here's a mix of both in on of my favourite colour combos. :D And, don't forget the cool raven. :D

More to come... So watch this space.

Available as prints, phone and tablet cases, mugs and travel mugs, wall hangings and shower curtains, cushions and various bags and pouches, duvet covers and stationary cards. Oh and mouse mats. :D Have a ball. Have a set. :D

Fear of Butterflies

© Sybille Sterk

Do not copy or publish this in any way, shape or form without my written permission.

A mixed media collage of photographs of a peacock butterfly that had been trapped between the two parts of a sash window (and freed after my photo session that really didn't take very long), textures, colour overlays and curve adjustments, and a fake blood image I took ages ago.

I love butterflies and I am not fearful of them at all, but I wonder how I'd feel trapped amongst lots of them...?

All is not as it seems

This was a little toy, no bigger than an inch, that I photographed with my new macro lenses. It reminded me of Tim Burton's Nightmare at Christmas and the mood in the film which never quite managed scary but always seemed gentle and loving to me. So this is my hommage to Tim Burton, one of my favourite film makers. :-)

All images/textures/brushes my own or bought. Edited with Photoshop.

A spider and its reflection in a corner of a window. I added a (fake) TTV frame (my own and bought stock) and put it all together to give it this spooky atmosphere.

Stop the Clocks

MyFreeCopyright
MCN: CLXHL-7V21E-GYBNM

Image created for the 1/52 project (20/52) from my own photographs.

This is about the Victorian tradtion of covering mirrors and stopping clocks with a death in the house. I presume the latter was to establish and record time of death, the former, covering the mirrors, is supposed to prevent the departing soul from becoming trapped in the mirror. There is a similar tradition in Jewish religion, however in this case it is to remind us that we are more than our physical bodies and to leave vanity behind and remember our souls.

Words are from my poem Night Songs:

"gone from sight
but not from mind
like a prisoner
forgotten
rotting
in a damp cell"

I was experimenting with my favourite mirror. I've used it before in "The Sky is Blue Somewhere Else" and in "All the Jewels in the World". I wonder how many more versions I can come up with, all different of course. LOL

Created with my own photographs in Photoshop, no stock used.

Now for something spooky and a new story

I wanted to have a play with a hand coming out of the ground. The hand is my own. :-) Maybe this means I am going to come back and haunt you all. LOL
