She Walks in Beauty
She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

Thus mellow'd to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impaired the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

Or softly lightens o'er her face;

Where thoughts serenely sweet express

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

Lord Byron, 1814

Picture taken earlier this year and edited a few days ago. I changed the colours and added the fog, I also edited out the people at the end of the path. I wanted a spooky ethereal image but in the end there was something so hopeful about it that I felt the poem was the perfect companion.

All images/textures/brushes my own or bought. Edited with Photoshop.

All my images are available on Redbubble, Artflakes, Society6and Bluecanvas as prints, cards, posters, skins for laptops, Blackberry, iPhones and other phones (for the skins go toBluecanvas). You can now also get most of my images on cushion covers (go to Society6 for these).

A Little Piece of Heaven

A bit of fun - I wanted to create a 'personal heaven'. Lying on the grass in the sun reading a book seemed just perfect. :-)

Created with my own photographs in Photoshop, no stock used.

Dissembling - Welcome to the Dark Side

Third in my new series called Dissembling

dis·sem·ble  (d-smbl)

v. dis·sem·bled, dis·sem·bling, dis·sem·bles
1. To disguise or conceal behind a false appearance. See Synonyms at disguise.
2. To make a false show of; feign.
To disguise or conceal one's real nature, motives, or feelings behind a false appearance.

From The Free Dictionary

The series is about the different guises and masks we wear.

This particular image is about the dark side we often hide even from ourselves. The more images I create in this series the more I realise that dissembling is about balance, or rather imbalance. The more we hide from ourselves the less balance we achieve and that leaves us less control over who we are and what we do. The dark side is there in all of us, but life becomes ever more politically correct and although anger can be a negative and destructive force if it is out of control, it can also be a freeing and constructive emotion if balanced with consideration and rationality. We need to accept our dark side and use it in the right way which is impossible if we negate the fact that it's there in the first place, hence the name of the image.

Fallen Angel - Photo Manipulation

An image both about the social, political, and historical framework women work within since Eve, but also the personal feeling of being 'flung from grace' when a mistake seems to rock your world and we have to pull ourselves out of the mire and re-invent ourselves.
See the poem here.
