Jellyfish Triptych and Print
My latest project.
Three 20x20 cm canvasses, interlinked with rope which gives them an all over length of roughly 70 cm. Each of the jellyfish has been crocheted in very thin copper gunmetal paint coated wire. The canavasses have been painted with acrylic paint, matt and glossy varnish to replicate water reflections.
This is a completely original work and available in my Etsy shop for sale.
Jellyfish top.
Jellyfish middle.
Jellyfish bottom.
Detail of bottom jellyfish.
If you can't afford the original right now, there's a diptych print of two of the jellyfish from the painting. You can get it from my Redbubble page.

Secret Heart
MCN: CL2XT-3Q5VX-JK1GC
This is an image I took for the 1/52 project although I didn't use it in the end but used a different shot. The shot is of the reflection of a heart necklace I made for a commission. The heart is made from bronze wire, a red bead and handmade barbed wire chain. :-)
The image is named after the necklace - everybody has a 'secret heart' they hide from most of the people in their lives, but it's that heart that makes them who they are. Meaning, we often don't really know the people in our lives all that well.
Part of my new series of images for licensing on Arcangel-Images use this code: SYST-0099
Created with my own photographs in Photoshop, no stock used.

Seashells by the Seashore - Mobile
This is a present for Steve. It's his birthday today. :-)
The large shells and the razor clam shells plus the feather are from Holme Beach, the rest - recycled glass beads, sea glass, fossil, sea urchin and other shells and the lava cube beads - are from my stash. I've used two types of hemp, metallic thread and gunmetal wire to attach everything to the aluminium hand shaped hanger.
It was fun to make and I am considering to make some more. I'll have to go to the beach again to collect some more shells and feathers first though. If you're interested in a mobile like this, let me know. :-)

Green Wire Octopus
Here's another of the commissions I've been given for an octopus. This time all in green with a matching green ribbon to hang him up:
This one is larger than the one from the complete mobile (about 30cm tall from top to the end of his tentacles). I've used green beads instead of clear beads and in the light they shimmer like green gold. Totally magic.
If you'd like one for yourself, just send me an e-mail or leave a comment. :-) Go on, treat yourself. ;-)

Sea Creatures Mobile II - Commissioned Mini Mobiles
Remember my Sea Creatures Mobile? I since had a few commissions to make individual mini mobiles. Here are two of them, both are going all the way to Australia.
Fishie Mini Mobile:

The final commission is the little octopus, but I haven't started that yet.
As you can see the colour of the wire/silk I've used is different in these two sets. If you want to commission a different colour, contact me and we'll discuss the options.
The mini mobiles are all £25 plus P&P except for the octopus which is £35 plus P&P. The large mobile is £150 plus P&P.

Sea Creatures Mobile
This is my latest venture - I spent the last couple of weeks crocheting my fingers to the bone with wire. ;-) I am so pleased with it though and think it was worth it.
It's a mobile, each individual creature crocheted from wire, sometimes embellished with Habu silk/steel yarn, Habu paper moire, and/or vintage Edwardian clear beads. The actual mobile also includes some crystals from a vintage chandelier.
Here are detail shots of the individual creatures:
Fishies
Jellyfish
Sea Urchin
Squid
Octopus
I tried to stay as true to the actual shape of the creature as I could - within reason and within the limitations of the technique and materials. The octopus was the most difficult one as I wanted it to be '3D' and the legs were complicated at this size with the wire and VERY hard on my hands.
The only tools I used was two crochet hooks, wire cutters, scissors, wire, invisible thread (hanging material), yarn, and glass beads.
Availability
The mobile itself is available for sale as a commission - it will however take me about 3 weeks to make one. The creatures are also available as commissions individually and it will take 2 - 3 days to finish one. The fish always come as a set of five and all creatures come with a little aluminium 'bar' at the top to be hung into a window or from a hook on the ceiling. For prices please enquire by e-mail.

Jewellery Party Specials - March 2010
For each of my jewellery party I make something special. This time my special collection is based on clouds. There have been so many clouds recently that this seemed the theme to go with... it also went in line with another project I am working on at the moment.
If you live in or near Cambridge and would like an invite to the party (Thursday, 25th March, 8pm), send me an e-mail. :-)
