Cambridge Triptychs

All images/textures/brushes my own or bought. Edited with Photoshop.

From my Cambridge series, taken with Hipstamatic. Exclusive to Redbubble.
A juxtaposition of grungy urban texture and the lovely countryside. There’s a town and gown thing going on between the university of Cambridge and the town itself.

I have a thing about textures and how some textures seem to have symbolic meanings, almost like a secret language. When you walk on the edge there’s no knowing what you may find…
The first one is a pathway through the park. The path on one side, the grass just on the edge of the other side.
The bottom left picture is of broken glass by the side of a pub.
The final image is a broken sticker on a lamp post. The part of the sticker torn off had the shape of a wolf, which I found amusing because the sticker was about dogs (or rather their leftovers….) :-)

Another juxtaposition of urban grunge to lovely countryside. This time it was more about colour and texture.
The top image is of the Cambridge countryside which is extraordinarily pretty in the sunshine.
The other two images are textures I found on a wooden wall built around a building site.
Currently there’s a huge building boom going on in Cambridge and a lot of the pretty countryside is vanishing.

These were chance shots. The first is a house number on a fence. I am never sure if 66 is a lucky number or the devil’s number….?
The other two shots are from a building site again. I thought they worked with the luck. Sometimes luck is not enough and you need to follow the rules to be safe. :-)

All images in this series (Cambridge Collection) are available EXCLUSIVELY on Redbubble as prints, cards, posters and framed or mounted prints.

Rain One - my new umbrella and a puddle. :-)
Rain Two - my new umbrella again with another puddle...

Pink Ivy - ivy growing on a wooden fence with a special filter.
Pink Park - images from the park with the special pink filter again...
Park - moody rain shot.
Natural Mirror - my favourite shot of the day - reflection of trees in a puddle. I love the magical feel of this. This was also my entry for week 16 of the 1/52 project.
Moody Mill - the old derelict mill in Cambridge and the train station, with the pink filter. Love the end of world feeling in this shot.

Hazel - love the sumi-e feel of  these two shots.
Eggs - a sign I walked past on my walk.

It's so much fun to walk around and just shoot pictures from the hip. I've used the random setting on my Hipstamatic app to create the different effects and then took them into Photoshop to edit them and emphasise the feeling of each one.

Photo Fun and Sad News

I had some fun snapping photos with my new Hipstamatic app. I love all the different looks you can achieve. :-) Here's just a (very) small selection of the images I shot this weekend. I did some with a 'real' camera as well, those are coming up soon.

It was nice to play around and have some fun on Sunday, especially as I had some bad news on Saturday. One of our cats who had been suffering from a tumour or abscess in her cheek had to be put down by the vet as it was getting too painful and debilitating for her (until the last few days she was fine in herself and painless).

She was one tough old cat - 18 years old. I still expect her to walk through the door with one of her crany miaows. I bet she's in cat heaven (or wherever cats go), hunting mice to her heart's content, however she left behind a Mayberry-shaped hole...

All our cats have been 'rescued' somehow... I wonder when the next one in need of rescuing will walk through the door. Or if you are in the Cambridge area and have a kitten that needs a good home... ?
