Sometimes things really seem that way.... people go nuts and you have no idea what set them off...

Bought resources including the Stringfellow font all mixed up in Photoshop and Illustrator into something special. Sometimes that seems the only place were things still make sense.

Available as prints, phone and tablet cases, mugs and travel mugs, wall hangings and shower curtains, cushions and various bags and pouches, duvet covers and stationary cards. Oh and mouse mats. :D Have a ball. Have a set. :D

This the Sea

MCN: CEKJU-DVK5V-JUYYC

This is inspired by the wonderful model Jess Truscott and the song This is the Sea by The Waterboys. You can listen to it below.

I've always had a thing about the sea and water in general. :-) The sea always made me feel safe and free and I was always drawn to myths about the sea, especially the one about Tethys, Goddess of the Sea.

Floating Islands

 MCN: C3NUN-TW8C9-LJGP3

Detail image of the three islands in the top left corner.

The image was created with images of actual moss to make the top of the island, the bottom is either part of the moss 'pads' or bits of wood, stone, and bark.

I had great fun making them into little islands, each different from the others. I've included images from Leiston and Ely Cathedral, a tower in Happisburgh, an old beach torch as seen in Aldeburgh, trees from Rome, bunting from Cambridge and old watch parts for the gears.

The image took a week to create and pull it all together.

Flight

MCN: CEB87-8FLGL-VC1ET

Collage of my own images taken at the Suffolk coast. I added a more interesting sky and enhanced the image colour-wise. I also added the mist to the front of the image and textures.

Stranded

I finally got to spend the day by the sea yesterday. After a really interesting visit to Bawdsey Radar Trust (check it out here) we made our way along the coast and stopped at Shingle Street and Orford.

This picture was taken at Orford. I loved the contrast of the peeling turquoise paint next to the red rust and the tattered beauty of the boat. (Click on the image to see it larger.) I had to remove the background for both shots as they were too busy and distracting and replaced them with a couple of sky pictures and added textures.

Happy New Year and Sea Shore - Photo Manipulation

This is a present so not for sale. Sorry… I thought it was the perfect image to introduce the new year as it’s a collage mostly of images taken at the seaside over the summer. I’ve included images from Happisburgh, Aldeburgh, Holme Beach, Winterton-on-Sea, Thorpeness and more along the Norfolk/Suffolk Coast.

Pictures from the Seaside

We spent a fantastic day at the Suffolk coast yesterday, starting with the best fish & chips ever at Dunwich (where all the pictures were taken).

Here you can see a rusty (but still working) winch in the foreground and the fish & chips place at the back.

I didn't want to take much time to mess around with photos so they were all quick shots - more as a memento than for artistic quality - so I played around with them today. :-)

Dove's Foot Crane Bill (Geranium Molle)

Purple Wheat

We brought back lots of fresh fish and seafood - you just can't compare the fish you buy in the shops with freshly caught fish. I'd happily eat fish like that every day of the week.

We were so lucky with the weather too - it was hot but not too hot, with a slight breeze and we found a lovely tearoom by the beach in Orford Ness to end the day.

Trips, Number 1: Southwold - Summer

This is a new mini series - all about the trips I went on last year. The first one to be recounted here was to Southwold at the end of August.

I had my trusty camera with me and, of course, took a lot of pictures whilst collecting sea glass.
Here are (what I think) my best pictures.

The first one is of the lighthouse. I am pleased with the picture because it shows how high the thing really is!

Somebody had some fun taming a figurehead and wrestling it to a wall:

Couldn't resist sneaking this picture in. A lifesaver ring is just all about the sea/seaside, nothing says it better! :-)

The sea was quite wild at times that day as it was windy. I spent ages getting this picture whilst sandcastles were built and being torn down again:

And I spent even longer getting this one just how I wanted it.

This is quite tame compared to the other two, but I liked it because it looked like some giant creature's tail (a dragon?) dipping it's tail in the sea.

And here's one of a series of pictures I took of the sea and the boat. I messed around with it in Photoshop to give it this painterly feel.

The next instalment will be Autumn pictures of Wandlebury.....
