Inspired by The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. This is an interpretation of Eddie’s dream. He sees the tower on a field of roses with a blue sky behind it.

Yasammez - Lady Porcupine - Photo Manipulation

 

 

An image inspired by Tad Williams' Shadowmarch series.
Yasammez is the war leader of the Twilight People (fairies, Qar). I was so taken with her description and personality. There's something tragic about her as well as something strong and forceful as well as an underlying sence of justice and revenge.  In the story she is described as wearing armour with long porcupine quills, and beautiful but deadly. The armour isn't quite what I had in mind but I am nonetheless pleased with the way it all works together.

This image involved a lot of drawing to get the colours and feel I was after. I wanted something that is slightly alien and magical but still allowed the viewer to make a connection.

The Dark Tower

 

 

 

Inspired by The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. This is an interpretation of Eddie's dream. He sees the tower on a field of roses with a blue sky behind it.

Although this is a photo manipulation it involved a lot of drawing. The original tower image was of only a fraction of the tower you see here and it didn't have any windows. The only meadow with red flowers I could find was of poppies so all the roses have been put in by me. There are literally hundreds of masks in this image to blend it all together. LOL I love The Dark Tower series and wanted to get it right. :-)

My interpretation of Nicholas the Slide from the Sword of Truth series (Naked Empire)

I've always been fascinated by Nicholas the Slide because he seems such an evil character and at the same time he is utterly tragic because of the way he has been 'modified' and the pain it caused him then and until the end. His mantra in the story is "Hate to live, live to hate" which says it all as far as I am concerned.
