I didn't realise quite how long it's been since my last post. This image was started 2 weeks ago, but a party, a hangover, Christmas and a cold later.... here I am with the finished result:

It all started with the cute skeleton deer. I just wanted to make something with this. It reminded me of winter and the bare winter branches and how spring mostly starts with rain and that's how it came about. I can't wait for spring. :-) I doubt it will rain fish, but there will be wind and new leaves and lovely cloud shapes in the skies.

Crafting

It's been a couple of weeks of crafting and all sorts of little things, in preparation for Christmas.

These are last week's fruits of my labour:

Hearts, 

birds 

and stars, wooden shapes covered in fabric (birds), paper and glitter: Ready to hang.

This is how I started off yesterday:

These bits of tissue paper became

flowers:

 and then were attached to a wire frame:

 which in turn was covered in at least 40 but more like 50 flowers to hang as a wreath on my door. :-)

These little fellows and their fellow bambi wooden shapes were first fixed up with some brooch pins and little hangers (or in the case of the bambis relieved of their bits of string),

 then covered in a couple of coats of paint:

before they were painted individually, little owls

 and little foxes

and bambi had a coat of glitter applied:

They all still need a coat of varnish, then they can go off into the world, except for the bambis, the first lot of ornaments and the wreath, those are this year's Christmas decorations. :-) If you want a little owl or fox (pendant or brooch, colours available are brown, white and black), give me a shout, otherwise they'll go in my Etsy shop soon.

Love is so often dependent on the ideas of love we have and mostly it's those preconceptions that kill love because it's so hard to be something you're not...

The image is called "Frankenstein was an artist". It's inspired by the story of Dr Frankenstein and his (sadly misplaced) genius. However, where would we be without people occasionally pushing the boundaries and asking 'what if'. Not that I condone sewing together human or animal parts in any way though. ;-)

I don't much like winter, but there is beauty to be found and just like magic spring is back. Something to look forward to during the cold dark months. :-)
