The fairy tale The Red Shoes is one of the most disturbing and scary ones I know. Andersen wrote a few of those.... however, the picture of the red shoes is one I keep coming back to in my mind. Here's a poem I wrote called plans that I felt worked with the picture.

I never understood The Red Shoes as a child and have difficulty with it even now as it is so disturbing. Love the poem - very thought provoking, and the image is simple but full of meaning.
