A reinterpretation of another movie poster. This one is inspired by The Fisher King. The quote is from the film. Another of my all time favourite films. I have a thing for underdogs. :-)

I've used my own photographs plus bought textures and some freebie and bought brushes.

The font is called King & Queen Font.

A reinterpretation of a couple of movie posters. The first one is inspired by Tarantino's Django Unchained and the second is inspired by Casablanca (the quote is from the film). I love both films for different reasons but in a way they're both about true love, one is about sticking with it and doing whatever it takes, the other about letting go
.
I've used my own photographs plus bought textures and some freebie and bought brushes on both images.

The font for Unchained is 3rd Man
The fonts for Paris are 1942 report and Carpenter.

Lots of new things: Poppy, Heart Brooch, and Bangles and Bracelets Galore

Been busy - didn't realise quite how busy until I took the pictures and started to upload them. Maybe because I'd been working on several projects simultaneously, or maybe I am just cracking up! :-)

Let's do this in chronological order...

Poppy Necklace

I actually tried out a new technique with this. I cut the petals from copper, then shaped, filed and torched them, however I couldn't get them bright red. So I tried something new. I bought some translucent, liquid Sculpey (TM) a while back that can be either used as a transfer for pictures or it can be mixed with colours. I did the latter, and mixed it with two different acrylic reds and some lovely superfine glitter in burgundy. I applied that, baked it, added another layer of just plain Sculpey (TM) and then sprayed it with varnish.

Next, I added the stamen (I used a little wooden bead for the centre and twirled on some gorgeous matte black Japanese seed beads). The whole flower was attached to a vintage filigree, some black enameled chain and finished off with a handmade clasp.

Red Heart Brooch

This was made in the same way as the poppy with a copper heart base and the Sculpey (TM) applied on top, however this time I didn't apply the second (non-coloured) coat evenly but in a spiral.

I am quite pleased with the effect, it's bright red, which is what I wanted and almost has the look of enamel, but is more pleasant to the touch as it isn't cold and hard but softer and warmer.

True Love Bracelet

I really wanted a bracelet to go with my True Love necklace - most of my jewellery is silver except for the Dragon's Tale - so I needed to make myself a bracelet... You know how it is. :-)

Below it is before I oxidised it:

Even more detail: :-)

Here it is oxidised. I prefer it this way as it brings out the textures of the hearts and works better for me.

Here is a picture of it with the necklace:

And here is a close-up picture of both. I've used the same beads for both and made all the links/jump rings/clasp and the hearts.

Bangles Galore
Set of Five - Spirals within Spirals

I LOVE bangles. I like the sound they make when you wear more than one and when they jingle-jangle against one another. :-)

Here's a set of five. Each is different and I've used 4 different gauges of copper wire. The wooden block is actually a bangle mandrel which helps shape the bangles to a (near) perfect round. I've applied a hammered texture to some of them, but not all of them.

The bangles will go in my Etsy shop and will be sold in sets of three or five and in various wires (bronze, copper, silver, rose gold, possibly brass) and oxidised or bare, all will made to order so the customer can decide what combination.

Here's a picture of what a look of three would look like together after I oxidised them:

The Ivy Bangle

This one is ALL MINE. I love this. I used a real ivy leaf for the shape and cut it out of copper sheet (filed, sanded, brushed), then I manipulated thick copper wire to 'hold' the leaf and create the main centre vein through the leaf. A little swirl at the other end finishes the bangle shape.

Here is the leaf in detail:

The 'botanical' bangle will be offered in my Etsy shop as a custom order, too. The customer can decide on the the leaf to be used in the bangle. :-)

A Definite Heart Theme - and some insects!

Here are some creations I prepared earlier ;-)

Fly, Fly Dragonfly Necklace

I have a thing about dragonflies. They are so graceful and pretty, and like the ugly duckling they're not half as pretty when they're little.

I made this one from copper sheet, which I cut to shape, then I filed and sanded it to get rid off the sharp edges and also to add detail to the wings. Next, I had some fun bashing it with some filigree laid over the top of it to create lovely detailed indentations. More filing, since this caused some sharp edges to reappear.

The body is made from hollow square sterling silver tube that I sawed into shape, brushed to create a texture and then wired to the wings with thin copper wire. Finally, I added a 'body' with a vintage butterfly glass bead that is etched with gold. A sterling silver chain finished the necklace.

I could have left it at that as it was pretty, but it wasn't quite pretty enough. So I oxidised the wings slightly using diluted liver of sulphur and a brush. I took off most of the oxidisation except at the wing tips and close to the body, and, of course, it stayed in the indentations. The next step was some verdigris (see previous post for the method), some of which I removed with wire wool and a cotton bud. The final step was some varnish to prevent skin irritations, although, the back of the dragonfly is polished (although that will tarnish over time). I may have to experiment with some superfine glitter to create some iridescence. Yep, it's true, I am a bit obsessed with getting this just right....

Here's the necklace with it's chain:

Black Butterfly Necklace

This was made in the same way as the Dragonfly necklace above, although the butterfly is of course much smaller and I've used the black vintage flower bead for it's body and black faceted vintage glass beads in the lower half of the necklace. The chain is sterling, the beads are wrapped with thin copper wire.

Here's the whole necklace:

Rose Petal Earrings

I made these earrings when I had a little time before making dinner and just needed to do something creative because the whole day had been filled with things that should have been done yesterday... I am sure you know the kind of day I am talking about.

I created a leaf shape in sterling silver wire, wrapped the beads (red quartz and rose quartz) inside the leaf shapes, and added the swirly ear wires.

I think they turned out really well and they look delicate and the quartz beads are even prettier in real life than they are in the picture.

True Love Necklace

This is such a pretty little necklace. I haven't quite decided if I am going to keep it or if I can bear to let it go.

I started off with the heart shape which I cut out of copper sheet, then bashed into submission with some filigree to get the lovely textures on it. A little filing and sanding on the edges to make sure it was safe to wear.

Next, I created the custom bezel for it and added a little vintage brass heart and a vintage red heart bead - the same bead that I used in the Secret Heart. I made a lovely custom clasp for the necklace and added vintage ruby red faceted beads (round and rondelles) to the chain. Finally, I oxidised the whole necklace, then rubbed off some of the patina again to let the copper shine through. The satin smooth sheen of the copper and the textures I made with the filigree give the heart a look of old embroidered silk.

This necklace is not for sale. Sorry. I am keeping it! :-)

Two Hearts Beating As One Necklace

The process for this necklace was similar to the True Love necklace. However, rather than using a readymade vintage charm, I made a wire heart shape of the same size to go with the copper sheet heart. I added three types of different vintage chain, lovely faceted vintage beads in differeent shades of turqoise and the turquoise heart was wired to the end of the chain. The necklace is designed like a lariat, it has no fastening. However I fixed the end with the turquoise heart to the other two hearts so it loops through, this makes the necklace hang better when the necklace is worn. Although there is no clasp, the necklace is long enough to just slip over the head.
