Baby, It's Cold Outside

MCN: CR4E9-JALCU-J3PYG

This was an experiment. I overlayed three images taken in quick succession to create this blurred effect that - to me - feels almost like a video still, as if you could see the movement out of the corner of your eye; a song caught between movements. I added textures, a vignette and colour adjustment layers to get to this and love the ethereal feel of it.

Created with my own photographs in Photoshop, no stock used.

Through a Glass Darkly

MCN: CQ2RK-9UQUG-4URSD

I've always loved this phrase and wondered what it meant and how it (probably) has a different flavour for each one of us. This is how it looks to me. :-) The phrase is from the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:12 - see here.

There are three more images in this series, which I'll post over the next few days. :-)

Part of my new series of images for licensing on Arcangel-Images - use this code: SYST-0049

Created with my own photographs in Photoshop, no stock used.

Fire - Triptych - Photo Manipulation

Inspired by the song Fire by Augustana (and the fire goddess in Sharra's Exile by Marion Zimmer-Bradley with a hint of the Stephen King) :-)

The Secret Keeper - Story and Photo Manipulation

Illustration to accompany the story of the same name.

He stood in the dark wood, doubtfully looking at the moon through the trees. He shivered in the cold air. Before he had time to consider his choices and give in to his fears she stood before him.

Her hair was long and shimmered blue in the light of the moon. Ribbons were tied in it, each with a key at the end of it.

“You are the Secret Keeper?” he asks her.

Bird in a Tree - Altered Art

Sorry, I honestly couldn't think of a better name....

It started off with a photo of a pigeon all fluffed up, sitting in some wintery trees I took a week ago. I was going to use it as a background, but when I started playing around with it I liked it too much to use it just as a background.

I've used several textures: Sirius_SDZ, Buzillo and Freaky665.

I've also used lighting effects, one of my patterns (as a texture on the frame), gradients, and filters.

Flower Girl - First Post of the New Year

My little sister sent me a photo of herself in fancy dress last night. The photo was taken with her iPhone and not brilliant quality, however I liked the photo itself and thought with some playing around it could look great.

I took my lead from her flowery head scarf and turned it into a flower girl with a 20s feel to it (at least to me).
I’ve used my own pattern from my butterfly scrap(k)it (see my other blog), a photo of some leafy branches taken at Sawston Hall, Cambs, several textures by Sirus-SDZ and my drawings of a ruby tiger moth, a purple hairstreak butterfly and a ladybird from the Soulscapes series (see Soulscapes Calendar).

Autumn Photo Collage

Here's my latest collage. I wanted to make something autumnal and used one of my Sawston Hall park photos, a photo of the sky and one of some wild flowers. I also used several textures:

- Buzillo
- Sirius-sdz
- HinataTentenAnkoRul

Makes me feel all warm and toasty....

... on the Scrap(K)it front, I've just finished the last pattern and made a sample card and a sampler of the patterns, frames and digi stamps included in the first pack, Papillion. You can see it over on MagpieMagic Scrap(K)it. The kit still has to be tested before it goes on sale, but hopefully it won't be too long.

Glorious Glass

I bought the most glorious beads on Etsy last week and they arrived today - all the way from Canada in under a week. I bought them from Firedance Beads and he kindly let me use his beautiful photos to show you all what I bought.

Here they are:

Bluesy Pink 1

Clearly Rose

Red Stones 2

Black Obsidian Swirls 2

Black Gold

This is just a small selection of all the wonderful beads in Firedance's Etsy shop. The ones I just HAD TO HAVE. LOL

Can't wait to make something with them, but as you all know, anticipation is half the fun. Have to finish my current project first... Something sweet in pink... You'll see. :-) Meanwhile, why don't you all go and check out Firedance's Etsy shop - but don't buy all the beads, leave some for me!!!

More commissions

Been busy this weekend, but especially today. Have been asked to make some earrings in red and gold/yellow and here they are.

I've used lots of red beads: red shells, red jade, coral, wood, Magatama and Miyuki drops, carnelian, cranberry crackle beads, flower beads, Swarovski crystals (Siam and Papadasha), and seed beads in different shades of red on bronze findings. The close-up below shows the beautiful beads in detail.

Here's the second pair in all it's golden shimmer:

For this pair I have used warm golden and cream shells, topaz, citrine, and amber, wood, Miyuki cubes in different shades (copper, gold and yellow), Magatama and Miyuki drops, Swarovski beads in different shades of yellow, from intense to pale lemon, little stripy heart beads and glass and seed beads in different shades of yellow/gold/amber/topaz. The whole lot has been strung on copper with two different types of chain.

Here's the third commission. A necklace with a cluster of beads hanging from a gorgeous deep red suede thong.

There are too many beads to list. The picture below shows more detail.
