Forever Twilight Bracelet

My latest creation:

Forever Twilight

Ben came up with the name ages ago and wanted me to make something to suit it. It took me some time to think of something deserving of the name but finally here it is.

The bracelet has been made with a crocheted wire frame, which was then 'embroidered' tatting style with a mix of dark blue Habu silk covered steel and (also from Habu) a kind of lurex which in fact is more like thread-thin video tape. The effect is much nicer than lurex as you get a far more subtle shimmer and glimmer.

In the next step I added teeny 4-layer organza flowers in black and lilac and Magatama drops in matte grey, pale blue and glossy lustred grey.

The final step was a gorgeous lilac organza ribbon threaded through the ends of the bracelet.

Above is one of the little silk organza flowers.

The bracelet is fully adjustable and would suit a medium to large wrist. It's too wide for a small wrist.

I think I will be making variations along this theme as I really like the look and feel of the bracelet. It is unusual and organic, soft but firm to wear and has interesting details. Something that will work as well with a little black dress as with a pair of jeans.

Handbags: Pink Funhouse and Thorny Rose

My first knitted/crocheted/felted bags.

I am so pleased for them as I'd never felted in the washing machine before, but I am very happy with how they both turned out.

Pink Funhouse Bag

Sorry guys, I just really like Pink - the band - especially the new album, which of course is called Funhouse. :-)

The bag has been knitted with 100% wool in a pale pink and trimmed with a variegated 100% wool yarn at the top. The rose is a mix of the two yarns. It closes with a little button on the inside and is unlined.

It's a fairly small bag, but perfect for a night out. :-) If you need exact measurements, just drop me a line. It will go into my Etsy shop by the end of the week and will cost around £25.

Thorny Rose Bag

Don't worry, there aren't any real thorns, just knitted ones. :-)

The bag was knitted from 100% wool in a French navy blue and a lovely bright right.

Above you can see one of the roses in detail. On the top right is the closure that slips over the centre rose to securely hold the bag closed. On the bottom left you can see that the strap of the bag is lined with a organza ribbon. The bottom right picture shows the little pocket inside.

The bag can be held by the strap or you can put the strap over your shoulder. It's not a huge bag, but you can fit quite a lot inside.

Like the other bag it will go into my Etsy shop by the end of the week. The cost will be around £40 + P&P.

Cold and Cold

When will this infernal weather stop? I am soooo tired of the cold, the rain, the snow, the sleet and the grey skies.

Been draped over the sofa or snuggled up to the radiator by the PC for the past few days with a cold. So no pictures of all the finished projects yet, especially as it's raining today, so not enough natural light to take some pictures.

However, I have finished:
  • my Green Blossom scarf
  • my Black and Teal Flapper hat.
My beautiful Thorny Rose bag is still a little damp and needs a little TLC after the rough felting in the machine, however, it's looking good and I can't wait to show everyone.

I've also started a pair of dark red lace fingerless gloves. Maybe not a brilliant idea with a stuffy head and a cold as the pattern is quite fiddly, especially the increases for the thumb. However, the first one just needs the side seam sewing up and hiding all the lose threads. And, if I feel a bit better later I might start the second one.

Hopefully, I'll have some pictures in the next couple of days.....

More Scarves - Blame the Weather

As promised, here are pictures of my recent crop of scarves.

This is a picture of the teal wild flower scarf as it will look when being worn. Lighting conditions weren't brilliant today and it was a little windy, but I think you'll get the idea. :-)

French Navy Blue Chenille Cowl/Neck Warmer

This is a real Winter warmer. The cowl can be worn double or single or use the extra length to wear it like a hood. It'll definitely keep you snug and looking pretty.

The cowl has been made from gorgeous thick French navy blue chenille with four cables going up the sides and front and back and 3 crocheted roses adding extra glamour.

Here's a picture of the cowl worn double.

Here's a picture of the cowl worn single with the extra length creating a snug collar.

Here's the best picture of the roses I managed to take. For some reason the velvety shimmer of the chenille is very difficult to capture on camera.

Rose Blossom Scarf

This is just the prettiest fluffiest lightest scarf ever!

The main part of the scarf was crocheted in Debbie Bliss Soho (thick slubby yarn) in shades of pink, moss green, creamy white and duck egg blue. Very subtle colour and very soft 100% wool.

Above is the scarf wrapped around several times, below wrapped around once. It's quite long and can be worn almost like a lariat and because it's so light you can wear it inside to jazz up a simple jumper or outside to keep you warm and looking glamorous.

The flowers were knitted in Rowan Kidsilk (Haze, Starlight and Aura) in silvery grey, soft mauve pink, and white with silver accents.

The leaves were all hand knitted as well.

There are 15 flowers and 6 leaves on the scarf.

All three scarves will be available soon in my Etsy shop.
