Knitting - on special request

... you know who you are! ;-)

I have been busy knitting lots of stuff recently. The weather was just so bad that there never seemed a moment of sunlight to take pictures, or if there was, I was busy. LOL

Oh well, here it is....

Citron shawl
Knitted with a lace weight lambswool. Pattern is here. Despite adding an extra repeat of the pattern it turned out a bit smaller than the one in the pattern because I used smaller needles and lace weight yarn. It looks great as a sweet little scarf in a Rockabilly kind of way and I love it. It's a present for a friend, whose favourite colour this is. :-)

Purple Slanted Shawl

Again, this is a present. It's a huge long shawl in a mohair yarn, knitted on the slant with several patterns in random order. I've embellished it with little beads at both ends.

Glacier Shawl and Wrist Warmers

Sorry guys, this set is mine. It's made from Rowan kidsilk in the colour 'Glacier' and I love, love, love it. LOL
The pattern is my own, although it's fairly simple, the stripes are created by alternating st st with drop stitch rows, the 'icicles' on the sides are simple increases and castoffs. Like the purple shawl it's very long and warm and soft. :-)

The matching wrist warmers are my own design too - the cable pattern is on both sides (front and back).

I am currently knitting another Citron shawl, this time in the correct yarn, but with a slightly modified pattern. That's for me too.... LOL I am also making a mobile with a sea creatures theme from wire, but it's not finished yet....

Lovely Flower Brooches

African Fabric and Lace Brooches

A mix of African fabric (polka dots and flowers, in the colours of Delft porcelain), glittery blue and cream net fabric, organza and (vintage) lace. Decorated with buttons and beads, some of which are also vintage.

 

Vintage Fabric and Silk Flower Brooches

This one is made from a wonderful brightly coloured vintage fabric, some turquoise shimmery, silky fabric, turquoise net fabric and burgundy organza. A turquoise button and a few blue beads are added for decoration.

This one is made from a different, brightly coloured vintage fabric, pink satin, burgundy dupioni silk and burgundy net fabric. The brooch has been decorated with a vintage bead, a flower button and some sequins.

Fake Fur and Leather Brooch

Black leather, one petal layer with the smooth side up and one with the suede side up, black net fabric, a layer of fake fur and a layer of organza, decorated with vintage beads.

Teal Gauntlet Wrist Warmers

These are made from a teal acrylic in a wonderful teal green - imagine emerald green with a hint of blue. It's a gorgeous colour and because they're acrylic they're easy to wash.

Pastel Roses Hat and Wristwarmer Set

The hat is made from Lang Mille Colori (10% Cashmere, 60% Wool, 30% Microfibre) and Debbie Bliss Astrakhan (10% Cashmere, 60% Wool, 30% Microfibre) and a little bit of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino (flower).

The wrist warmers are made with the Lang Mille Colori and the Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. All the yarns I've used are fantastically soft and will keep you warm even through a cold winter.

Big Day - Update

The party went well last night. Lots of people came and shopped, and Caroline is that much closer to her target for the fund raising.

It was an enjoyable evening, although some people were obviously put off by the showers, I bet they would have come if they'd known how much fun it would be.

I spent my time mostly with Teresa from Rococo in Sawston as I shared the same room with her and bought one of her gorgeous hats. I'll try and get website details from everyone else who was there and post them here too as there was another jeweller - Luisa Corbelo - and Catchlight Photography and a physiotherapist.

It was hard work too and I am tired today and I still have to tidy everything away again... too late last night to do that.

Big Day

After frantic organising and getting everything ready, the day of the jewellery party in aid of the MS Trust has finally come. If you haven't read about it yet - Caroline is running the London Marathon for her sister who has MS.

The jewellery party is to raise much needed funds and ten percent of all the profits will go to the MS Trust.

There will be another jeweler, a physiotherapist, a photographer, and the Cambridge Evening News has promised to cover it.

Quickie

Sorry... been soooooo busy with my jewellery party (which went really well, thanks to all my lovely customers) and knitting Christmas presents. Done three pairs of wrist warmers, a ruffly knitted scarf (imagine Barbie goes Victorian) and another knitted hat. I am currently on my third pair of wrist warmers (just done the pattern, now I need to knit them).

The first two pairs of wrist warmers follow the recent version of the pattern, the third pair is different (Barbie goes Victorian) and the fourth pair will be Gothic/Punk. All will be revealed after Christmas - can't really post them or they won't be a surprise!

I am totally shattered after all the knitting, preparing for the party and Ben being poorly with a cold. He is getting better though, which is good. :-) (For him and ME!!!) LOL

Hope you are all having fun in the run up to Christmas. I'll try and squeeze in a Christmas card for my blog sometime... Really should give up sleep, all that wasted time.... ;-)
