Crafting

It's been a couple of weeks of crafting and all sorts of little things, in preparation for Christmas.

These are last week's fruits of my labour:

Hearts, 

birds 

and stars, wooden shapes covered in fabric (birds), paper and glitter: Ready to hang.

This is how I started off yesterday:

These bits of tissue paper became

flowers:

 and then were attached to a wire frame:

 which in turn was covered in at least 40 but more like 50 flowers to hang as a wreath on my door. :-)

These little fellows and their fellow bambi wooden shapes were first fixed up with some brooch pins and little hangers (or in the case of the bambis relieved of their bits of string),

 then covered in a couple of coats of paint:

before they were painted individually, little owls

 and little foxes

and bambi had a coat of glitter applied:

They all still need a coat of varnish, then they can go off into the world, except for the bambis, the first lot of ornaments and the wreath, those are this year's Christmas decorations. :-) If you want a little owl or fox (pendant or brooch, colours available are brown, white and black), give me a shout, otherwise they'll go in my Etsy shop soon.

I had the need to create an owl. I like owls. They're like cats with wings. This one was created in Photoshop with brushes most of them bought except for the Alice brush by Pixels & Ice Cream which was a freebie. 

All images/textures/brushes my own or bought.

I also won two awards for my image Seaside Living in Solo Exhibition on Redbubble. This is a juried exhibition. :-)

Rare Purple Spotted Baby Owl (in Felt)

The purple spotted owl is thought to be extinct. Only a very few eye witness accounts exist, which I have been scouring the internet for to get enough information to re-create the beautiful rare creature in felt. According to lore they are extremely fierce in protecting their own and take a mate for life.

Here it is for you to see.... The first of my new 'Rare Creatures' collection.

His tummy and claws. Each claw has been needle felted separately and then needle felted onto his feet.


His lovely feathery wings with lots of spots...



And, finally, his bottom with tail and the special little heart each of the Rare Creatures in the collection will have somewhere.

The little critter is 10cm (4") tall and totally cuddly and sweet. He has been stuffed with banana silk throw waste (Charka) and has been made for my son Ben who loves it to bits. :-) However, if you would like one like it, let me know and I see what I can do.

There will be more in the collection - I have already planned a Zombie Fairy Cat and the Midnight Lizard. So watch this space. :-)
