Another in the Vintage Times Series. :-) I love goldfish and birdcages. They seem to go together. In my head. LOL
Bought stock photographs/vectors/textures, my own photographs, vintage public domain line drawings and lots of hard work in Photoshop.

be still my beating heart

I love graffiti, there's something immediate and spontaneous about it that is sometimes missing from other art, hearts are a special favourite. This was on a shiny sign reflecting the houses on the other side of the street. Lots of textures added and colour adjustments and, of course, the words.

The words are by William Mountfort Zelman (not Shakespeare): be still my beating heart.

A juxtaposition of grungy urban texture and the lovely countryside. There’s a town and gown thing going on between the university of Cambridge and the town itself.

I have a thing about textures and how some textures seem to have symbolic meanings, almost like a secret language. When you walk on the edge there’s no knowing what you may find…
The first one is a pathway through the park. The path on one side, the grass just on the edge of the other side.
The bottom left picture is of broken glass by the side of a pub.
The final image is a broken sticker on a lamp post. The part of the sticker torn off had the shape of a wolf, which I found amusing because the sticker was about dogs (or rather their leftovers….) :-)

Another juxtaposition of urban grunge to lovely countryside. This time it was more about colour and texture.
The top image is of the Cambridge countryside which is extraordinarily pretty in the sunshine.
The other two images are textures I found on a wooden wall built around a building site.
Currently there’s a huge building boom going on in Cambridge and a lot of the pretty countryside is vanishing.

These were chance shots. The first is a house number on a fence. I am never sure if 66 is a lucky number or the devil’s number….?
The other two shots are from a building site again. I thought they worked with the luck. Sometimes luck is not enough and you need to follow the rules to be safe. :-)

All images in this series (Cambridge Collection) are available EXCLUSIVELY on Redbubble as prints, cards, posters and framed or mounted prints.
