Lily Aglow - Mixed Media Collage

This is my latest photo collage.

A mix of a photo I took of a bunch of lilies a short while back and a sand texture (my own) and 2 filters.
I love the glow of the lily. It looks all warm and cosy, almost like a nightlight. :-)

Some Craft-y Things For a Change

I had a terrible migraine last weekend and needed something to regenerate. So, today was dedicated to finishing some projects and getting them all up on my blog.

Here are some I made earlier....

Denim Flower Brooch

This was a present for a friend and an experiment with materials:

The brooch includes the following materials:

Leather (bottom layer), African fabric from the African Fabric Shop, glittery net fabric, organza, denim yarn (a gift from Caroline over on Uniqart), and a recycled glass bead (from Ghana, bought at the African Fabric Shop), some embroidery floss.


I love the different materials together and definitely will make some more for my Etsy shop. :-)


Melon Lace Scarf

The pattern is from the Victorian Lace Today book, although I didn't knit the border as I only had one skein of the Malabrigo Silk Blend yarn. The yarn is fabulous to knit with and I love the final result. Sorry guys, this one is a Christmas present for a friend.



Flapper Hat and Matching Gauntlet Wristwarmers

This one's for me....

The hat is inspired by a design in Laura Irvin's Boutique Knits. The top of the hat didn't fit me (it was too big) so I adjusted it and now it's perfect. :-)


I added a rose brooch to the ruffle - although it does look great without it.


I had one skein of yarn left over when the hat was done, so I had the great idea of making myself some wristwarmers to match. The design is all my own, although the original idea with the ruffle has been inspired by the hat:




The wristwarmers were a quick knit and I think they look great, very elegant and perfect to match the 20s hat. I added a couple of embroidered buttons for a finishing touch... Easy. I'll definitely make some more of these for my Etsy shop. The yarn I've used is Rowan Silky Tweed which I found similar to Louisa Harding's Willow Tweed, although it's not quite as soft, but nice and warm and perfect for Winter.

Gothique Scrap(K)it Preview

The newest kit 'Gothique' is almost ready.

It's divided in two halves - modern and medieval.

Here are a couple of samples created with the modern half:

And here are a couple created with the 'Gothique Expansion Scrap(K)it'. The expansion kit contains extra patterns and stamps and some of the frames already coloured in and variations of patterns in the main Gothique Scrap(K)it. There are an extra 10 patterns (7 new & 3 variations), 1 new stamp and 2 variations, and 4 frame variations to play with.
